"In a nod to filmmaker Claude Lelouch, the former co-stars play a lovestruck couple."
Penelope Cruz and Brad Pitt are back together on screen—but not in the way you'd expect. The duo, who previously co-starred in 2019's The Counselor, have reunited for Chanel's new Iconic Handbag campaign, which features a black-and-white film inspired by Claude Lelouch's 1966 film, A Man and A Woman.

The New Wave-inspired clips, which feature Cruz and Pitt as a couple falling in love in the seaside resort of Deauville, France, highlight Chanel's timeless appeal. The film's location, which was inspired by creative director Virginie Viard's love of New Wave cinema, is notable for being where Gabrielle Chanel opened her first hat boutique in 1912. Inez and Vinoodh, a photography duo, capture Pitt and Cruz in the imagery, which recreates dialogue and shots from the original A Man and A Woman.

Cruz is seen carrying Chanel's signature 11.12 handbag—a flap-style made of quilted black leather with gold hardware—throughout scenes such as a car ride, beachside stroll, and hotel dinner. In the original film, actress Anouk Aimée carried her own Chanel handbag, so Cruz and Pitt's 2024 remake is a passing of the torch.
