Zac Posen, a well-known fashion designer, has been appointed executive vice president, creative director of Gap Inc., and chief creative officer of Old Navy.
Posen is a prominent designer known for his exceptional technical abilities and body-positive designs. Throughout his more than 25-year career, he has created costumes, ready-to-wear, accessories, red-carpet couture, and more.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Zac Posen, one of America's most celebrated designers, at the start of an exciting new chapter for Gap Inc.," said Dickson, the company's president and CEO since August.
Posen's key responsibilities as Old Navy's chief creative officer will include managing the brand's marketing, merchandising, and design. Gap Inc.'s biggest brand is Old Navy, which is also the second-largest clothing brand in the United States. Posen will immediately report to Haio Barbeito, Old Navy's president and CEO, and work closely with him.
"Given our scale and sizeable customer reach, Old Navy provides a tremendous canvas for Zac's talent and creativity," Barbeito stated in a press release.
"Gap Inc. and its brands have shaped American fashion and pop culture for decades and there's so much potential at Old Navy," Posen said in a statement.
Posen will join Dickson's executive leadership team at Gap Inc. as creative director, serving as a "cultural curator" and creative collaborator. Posen's appointment follows those of Eric Chan to chief business and strategy officer and Amy Thompson to chief people officer, as the company seeks to strengthen its leadership team with best-in-class talent to support its initiatives. According to the Gap press release, Posen is "redefining Gap Inc. for a new era through continued operational and financial rigor, brand reinvigoration, and greater cultural relevance."
