Lopez recently spoke with Variety about her marriage, specifically how she and Ben Affleck are still affected by their first engagement nearly 20 years later. At the time, they were both thrust into the spotlight, which strained their relationship. Lopez stated that they "both have PTSD" from their first experience, but added, "We're older now. "We are wiser."

"We also know what's important, what's important in life, and it's not so much what other people think," she said. "It's about being true to who you are."

Lopez's upcoming album, This Is Me…Now, reveals more about their current relationship. The Marry Me star claims that not everyone thought it was a good idea to make that public statement again, even though their marriage is much more stable now.

"As artists, we have to follow our heart and this is me following my heart and doing something that maybe everybody didn't think was the best idea, but I had to do it," she said.
