Halle Bailey Takes Us Beneath The Sea in the The Little Mermaid Teaser Trailer

Together with Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jacob Tremblay as the voice of Flounder, and Daveed Diggs as the voice of Sebastian, Halle Bailey plays the role of Ariel. Prince Eric and Ursula can be seen for the first time in the trailer.

Disney first revealed that Bailey would play Ariel starting in July 2019. Even though Bailey only featured on-screen for 15 seconds in the first teaser for the next movie, it garnered a lot of praise for her singing.

Broadway superstar Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alan Menken, who composed the music for the original animated version of "The Little Mermaid," collaborated on the soundtrack. Menken and Miranda collaborated on four new songs, but he reassured listeners on Variety's Awards Circuit Podcast that famous standards like "Kiss the Girl" and "Under the Sea" will still be present.

Miranda, Marshall, Russell Allen, John DeLuca, Marc Platt, and Michael Zimmer are directing the picture; Allison Erlikhman is serving as executive producer. The script was written by David Magee and Jane Goldman.

The release date for "The Little Mermaid" is set for May 26.
