For his celebrity guests, the 89-year-old designer put on a whimsical, cinema-inspired entertainment.
His Armani Prive line was designed around harlequin-patterned couture designs, which were frequently coupled with ruffled collars.
Sequins glistened on dresses, shirts, pants, and headpieces. Splashes of vivid blues, greens, and pinks were added to the mostly black ensembles, with skin-tight or flowy designs.
This year's Venice Film Festival lacked its typical star power, with several Hollywood A-listers having to skip the event due to the actors' strike.
However, Armani, one of Italy's finest postwar designers, had no trouble injecting gloss and elegance into the city's old armory. Actors Jessica Chastain, Sophia Loren, Sydney Sweeney, and Rege-Jean Page, as well as filmmakers Ang Lee and Ava DuVernay, sat in the front row.
Armani's "One Night Only" fashion shows have previously taken place in Tokyo, New York, London, and Dubai.
