The Victoria's Secret Angels have officially retired. On Wednesday, May 15, the long-running underwear and swimwear brand announced the return of its iconic Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2024, following a six-year hiatus. The company, which also sells fragrance, loungewear, athleisure, and body care, teased the news in an Instagram post, implying some changes to the once-a-year lingerie extravaganza.

"We've read the comments and heard you," the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Instagram account began, with a video of a VS Squad group chat with longtime Angel Candice Swanepoel

"The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is BACK and will reflect who we are today, plus everything you know and love—the glamour, runway, wings, musical entertainment, and more!" continued the message. Stay tuned."It only gets more iconic from here."

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which ran from 1995 to 2018, was a high-octane production in which the often bejeweled lingerie was only a small part of the appeal. Over the years, the biggest models of the moment--including supermodel legends like Naomi Campbell, Gisele Bündchen, Claudia Schiffer, and Tyra Banks--were chosen to walk the runway in increasingly extravagant wings, while A-list musicians such as Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, and Jay-Z performed. The annual fantasy bras—lingerie covered in millions of dollars of jewels—were an extravagant touch, and Gisele's $15 million red hot fantasy bra from 2001 remains the most expensive piece of lingerie ever made.

In recent years, girls such as Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, and Bella Hadid have graced the Versace runway. Despite declining viewership and several controversies, Victoria's Secret announced that the annual fashion show would not return in 2019. The annual runway event appeared to be over until last year when VS launched The Tour '23 on Prime Video, a showcase of four different collections hosted by Gigi Hadid and modeled by VS icons such as Adriana Lima and Naomi Campbell.

The brand did not reveal what changes it will be making to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show format, but if The Tour is any indication, viewers can expect a different format than in the 2000s and 2010s.

Fans will have to wait until fall 2024 to see what Victoria's Secret has in store, but there will undoubtedly be plenty of wings and big musical names.
