"Burberry has named Emma Mackey the new face of their Goddess Eau de Parfum fragrance. This is a significant milestone for the fashion company because it is their first scent to be created in a refillable bottle."
The Sex Education and Barbie actress appears beside a pride of lionesses in the brand's latest campaign, which represents the power of female strength and inner confidence, according to the Coty-licensed luxury brand.
"Fragrance has always been a great love of mine, and I am fascinated with the power that scent can have and the way that it can immediately transport you to a specific time and place in your life," the 27-year-old said of her new ambassador job.
According to perfumer Amandine Clerc-Marie, the new Burberry Goddess fragrance (£126 for 100ml) comprises a trio of three varieties of vanilla extracted using distinct procedures, promising "a new kind of rich olfactive experience."
It has top notes of vanilla infusion and lavender, which are said to provide the brightest woody vanilla possible; heart notes of firgood, also known as vanilla caviar, which is described as a sweet, rich, and animalic vanilla; and a base of vanilla absolute, which Clerc-Marie says adds a "mysterious, milky aspect" to the fragrance.
The edp is also Burberry's first refillable fragrance, with a gabardine-inspired gold label that refers to the brand's legacy and ends with a gold medallion.
In the Netflix comedy-drama Sex Education, Mackey received her breakout role as Maeve Wiley in 2019. For her role, she received critical acclaim and was nominated for a BAFTA award in 2021.
She then went on to play the lead part in the 2022 biopic Emily before appearing in the French love drama Eiffel and the suspense thriller Death on the Nile in 2021.
She recently starred in the summer blockbuster Barbie opposite Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.
Burberry's ambassadors include Star Wars star Adam Driver and Chinese actor Chen Kun.
